See 4 reasons to celebrate World Animal Day
Today, October 4, is World Animal Day. This date was chosen in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the Holy Patron of Animals and the Environment. This is a day when we celebrate the respect and protection of animals around the world.
As we know, unfortunately, animals are still victims of carelessness and neglect on the part of many people. But there is good news, and to celebrate today we have come to tell you four breakthroughs we made for animals only in September!
1. Three new victories were won by the end of the confinement of laying hens.
In September alone, the Animal Forum won three very important victories for the release of the chickens from its cages. The company Kraft Heinz, famous for its condiments such as ketchups, mustards and mayonnaise, Pan Pa 'Ya !, one of the largest coffee shops in Colombia, and Fran's Café announced their commitment to eliminate from the production chain the eggs of confined chickens in cages until 2025. In just one month we conquered a free future for literally millions of animals thanks to your support!
2. Fight against export of live cattle.
On September 14, the Animal Forum was in Belém, Pará, at the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), to discuss the maritime export of live cattle. Few Brazilians know of this sad reality, but we are attentive gaining space in this campaign, taking the first steps to eliminate the suffering of another cruel practice of the meat industry. You are part of it!
3. Education will transform the world.
At the invitation of the State Park of Serra da Concórdia, INEA and the NGO Happy Animals, our Director of Education, Elizabeth MacGregor, was also in September at the Park's headquarters in the district of Barão de Juparanã, municipality of Valença / RJ, "Humanitarian Environmental Education in Animal Welfare" for environmental professionals. Their support makes all the difference.
4. Fight against Rodeos and Vaquejadas
The Animal Forum is committed to the end of these practices called by some of sports, by others of entertainment, but that actually do so badly for countless animals. In September our collaborative funding campaign has grown significantly and has already reached 80% of its goal, which will guarantee another six months of work by our team with the production of technical reports, monitoring visits and the opening of representations in the Public Prosecutor's Office . Support yourself, too.
May this World Animal Day remember how much each species and each individual is important because they are living beings endowed with complex physical and mental capacities, deserving all our respect and compassion!
The Animal Forum is maintained thanks to donations from individuals who believe in the potential of our activities and campaigns. To become one of these people, just click here, choose a value that fits your possibilities and collaborate.
