UK Citizens and Residents: Urge the British Government Speak Out against The Dog Meat Trade in Vietnam‏

June 2016 Newsletter

Dear Supporter,
Change For Animals Foundation is delighted to have the wonderfully talented and compassionate Peter Egan as an ambassador for our anti-dog meat campaigns.
Please take a few moments to watch Peter's recent video for CFAF here >>
Special thanks to Richard Symonds for putting together this video and to Maria Slough for the beautiful photo of Peter with one of his many rescued dogs, Pippa.
Thank You for Saving These Dogs
Last month, thanks to YOUR support and generosity, CFAF was able to save these six dogs from a life full of suffering on a dog meat farm and a brutal slaughter.
All six dogs are now thriving in the U.S., enjoying their new lives of freedom.

Special thank you to our lovely friend Abbie and the team at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria in the U.S. for taking in these dogs and showing them what love and compassion feels like. Also, CFAF sincerely thanks our amazing supporters Martyn, Noeleen and David who came to South Korea with us to make this rescue possible.
"Though it breaks our hearts to have to leave behind the other dogs at this farm, CFAF believes that saving some is always better than saving none, and we haven't given up on the rest. For those lives saved, everything changes... Walking away from so much suffering never gets any easier. You have our word that we will do all we can to seek opportunities and support to ensure the end of the dog meat industry region-wide because every one of these dogs caught up in the trade across Asia is worth fighting for." Lola Webber, CFAF co-founder.
Ending The Dog Meat Trade in Vietnam
The dog meat trade in Vietnam causes the intense suffering of an estimated five million dogs each year. But with more and more people standing up against this cruel practice within Vietnam and globally, we know that dog meat can be brought to an end.
In Vietnam, pet ownership is on the rise, and that brings with it a growing awareness of animal sentience and an increasingly vocal opposition to animal cruelty. In 2014, a survey in the country revealed that nearly 55% of respondents are against dog meat consumption.
As a founding member of the Asia Canine Protection Alliance (ACPA), CFAF is committed to raising awareness of the inherent cruelty and human health risks associated with the trade. We are incentivising and supporting action to end the dog meat trade and we have big plans to expand our reach - we will keep you updated!

Please continue to follow us on Facebook >>

UK Citizens and Residents: Urge the British Government Speak Out
Please join us in calling on the British government to take action and speak out against the brutal dog meat industry in South Korea. In addition, they must urge the International Olympics Committee to respond to our concerns over dog meat in light of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Pyeongchnag in 2018.

To make your voice heard >>

Once again, thank you from all of us at Change For Animals Foundation for your ongoing support and generosity. Together, we will continue to strive to make positive and lasting change for animals and end suffering whenever and wherever possible.

Why the White Milk in Your Fridge is Actually Red

I knew we were close, the strong stench of ammonia, all too familiar now, couldn’t escape me. The long road  filled with  waste, muck and grime, made its way to concrete structures with stacks of hay. As I opened the iron link door, I saw once again, what I can at best call, a heap of animals. One atop the other- diseased, sick and starved.
Without an inch of space to move.
But what got me was their eyes – the resignation, the abandonment – the utter lack of hope. I knew then that these babies would never see sunlight- well, not until the day they would die.
Undercover Investigator
Dear friend,
This is the ugly truth of milk producing dairies that finally lies exposed in front of us.
FIAPO’s recent undercover investigation, The State of Dairy Cattle- Rajasthan brings to the fore radical revelations of inhumane and torturous conditions of dairy cattle across the state.
The data revealed lifts any curtain off the dark side of dairies and the dire need for urgent policy change is now apparent. Here are some startling facts from the report
•  57.45% dairy owners did not provide any form of veterinary assistance to their cattle, resulting in presence of life threatening and neglected wounds, infections and tumours.
•  Indiscriminate use of hormones for increased milk production, though illegal, is rampant and found in almost all dairies investigated.
•  87% of cattle are kept tied all the time in unhealthy and unhygienic conditions in a dairy, covered in their own excreta, and often suffering from injuries and fractures.
•  Male calves below 3 months of age are customarily slaughtered.
We refuse to let this suffering go unnoticed any longer. We are demanding policy reform through adherence to minimum standards reflecting in our Dairy Code and immediate relief to cattle in dairies by implementation of existing laws. For this, we have written to the Ministry Of Agriculture – Rajasthan, released our investigation findings to the media, and are working with various departments to bring about this change.
Join our Campaign by signing our petition asking the Ministry of Agriculture, Rajasthan toEnd Intensive Dairies and start an era of compassion for these gentle giants.

Federal Election 2016: Commercial kangaroo trade‏

2016 Federal Election
2016 Federal Election
Dear friends,

Australia's iconic kangaroos are hunted in the largest commercial slaughter of land-based wildlife on the planet.
Voiceless has been campaigning against this brutal trade for years. But while similar wildlife trades, such as the Canadian seal hunt or the Japanese whaling industry, attract global condemnation due to their brutality, the kangaroo hunt is relatively unchallenged.
Many people simply do not realise the cruel reality of this legal, profit-driven hunt.Learn more about our recent campaign here
Unlike many other animal use industries, however, the commercial kangaroo trade falls under Federal jurisdiction. This means that now is the time to speak up for kangaroos and their welfare ahead of the Federal Election.
So where do the major parties stand on the commercial kangaroo trade?
Where do they stand
Shockingly, only two parties – the Animal Justice Party and Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party – currently support a ban on the commercial kangaroo trade. See where other political parties stand on kangaroos here.
our position
Now it is your turn to put pressure on the political parties that have not committed to this important initiative. Please tell the leaders of the major political parties how important animal welfare issues are to you as a voter.
Let’s ensure animals and their interests are put on the national agenda this Federal Election!
Thanks for your support,
The Voiceless Team
