Federal Election 2016: Commercial kangaroo trade‏

2016 Federal Election
2016 Federal Election
Dear friends,

Australia's iconic kangaroos are hunted in the largest commercial slaughter of land-based wildlife on the planet.
Voiceless has been campaigning against this brutal trade for years. But while similar wildlife trades, such as the Canadian seal hunt or the Japanese whaling industry, attract global condemnation due to their brutality, the kangaroo hunt is relatively unchallenged.
Many people simply do not realise the cruel reality of this legal, profit-driven hunt.Learn more about our recent campaign here
Unlike many other animal use industries, however, the commercial kangaroo trade falls under Federal jurisdiction. This means that now is the time to speak up for kangaroos and their welfare ahead of the Federal Election.
So where do the major parties stand on the commercial kangaroo trade?
Where do they stand
Shockingly, only two parties – the Animal Justice Party and Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party – currently support a ban on the commercial kangaroo trade. See where other political parties stand on kangaroos here.

Now it is your turn to put pressure on the political parties that have not committed to this important initiative. Please tell the leaders of the major political parties how important animal welfare issues are to you as a voter.
