I'm very concerned about the welfare of Lucy, a female Asian elephant, currently living alone at the Edmonton Valley Zoo.
Lucy has been suffering from arthritis and chronic foot infections, the leading cause of death in captive elephants. Edmonton's cold climate, the small enclosure and the lack of same species stimulation is not appropriate for female Asian elephants.
The Valley Zoo is municipally-owned and operated, so the City of Edmonton has the authority to determine how the zoo operates and what decisions are made.
Lucy should not be kept alone
Edmonton is too cold for elephants
The zoo's elephant exhibit is too smal
Keeping Lucy is in contravention of Alberta's zoo regulations
Therefore I want to let you know that I want Lucy moved to The Elephant Sanctuary PAWS in California as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Name/Country

Dear Madam,
I'm very concerned about the welfare of Lucy, a female Asian elephant, currently living alone at the Edmonton Valley Zoo.
Lucy has been suffering from arthritis and chronic foot infections, the leading cause of death in captive elephants. Edmonton's cold climate, the small enclosure and the lack of same species stimulation is not appropriate for female Asian elephants.
Lucy is socially-isolated
Edmonton weather is not suitable for elephants
The zoo's elephant exhibit is too small
Keeping Lucy is in contravention of Alberta's zoo regulations.
Therefore I want to let you know that I want Lucy moved to The Elephant Sanctuary PAWS in California as soon as possible.
